As seen on http://elearningindustry.com/engage-adult-learners-remind-app

Recently I stumbled across an app called Remind. According to their website it states:

Remind is a communication tool that helps teachers connect instantly with students and parents. Send quick, simple messages to any device.

This statement is targeted at K12, this doesn’t stop it working effectively with adult learners. After playing with the website and the app (on an iPad Pro) in the role of a teacher, I can see enormous benefits for tutors / trainers and students in Vocational Education.

First off, there is the ability to create multiple classes; this could easily be adapted to any type of delivery model be it distance or classroom. Tutors can have a class for each clustered group of units and simply move students between classes as they progress through their course. Below is a screen shot of how the web interface looks like. Very clean and very simple:

Once the classes have been developed, a tutor can reach out and connect to the student or the entire class very easily. Send resources, links, and even audio recordings. One of the biggest benefits I found was the ability to translate your messages in many languages to your students (over 60 languages are supported!); this can greatly improve the relationship and communication between students as well as engage adult learners who don’t have English as their primary language. Below is a list of languages Remind supports.

You can download the App from the App Store or Google Play. Below are some screen shots of Remind on an iPad.
